The last supper - 14 March 2021

Here are some ideas that you could do with your children at home, that link the children’s everyday experiences to the Bible. As you play or create, you can talk about what happened in the Easter story during the last supper.

You could watch this video of the story:

Make some playdough bread and enjoy acting out the Last Supper. Don’t forget your special drink too 😊

Or if you are wanting more of a challenge- you could have a go at making your own bread!

Pass The Cup Game

For this game about the Last Supper, you’ll need a blindfold and a cup.

Say: Before Jesus died, he had a meal with his friends called the Last Supper. Jesus passed a cup around to say he’d die for his friends. Have the children sit in a circle. Then choose a child to sit in the center of the circle, blindfolded, to be the Guesser.

Have the rest of the children pass the cup around the circle as you sing a song. When the song is over, direct all the kids to hold their hands behind their backs.

Let the Guesser remove the blindfold and take three guesses at who has the cup. If the Guesser finds the cup, he or she trades places with that child. If not, the Guesser remains in place for another round of play.

Say: Jesus died for his friends because he loved them. And Jesus died for us, too.

Can you make your own wine and bread? Use brown collage to create the bread and red/purple to create the wine. And as you do this, talk about how Jesus asked us to do this to remember him, what he did for us and how much he loves us.

“Do this in remembrance of me”

MESSAGE AND PRAYER

What do you do when you want to remember an important event? On birthdays we send birthday cards, at Christmas we share a special meal together, Easter we eat eggs, we might have photos or a special object to remind us of special events. All of these things help us remember special events. Jesus asked His disciples, and asks us as well, to have bread and juice to remember Him and what He did on the cross, something we will be talking about more over the next few weeks. Jesus loves having a friendship with us and He loves it when we remember Him and thank Him for all that He has given to us when He died on the cross.

Pray for your week together!
