Our PURPOSE

The Bible describes two vocations for humanity – the stewardship of the world in which we live, and the redemption and reformation of what is lost and broken in our own lives and in wider society.

But this is not the whole story; the Bible paints an amazing picture of a partnership between God and humanity, to both steward and redeem. Not in any way an equal partnership, but one in which every one of us has the privilege of knowing God personally and working hand in hand with Him.

This is the purpose of Severn – to work hand in hand with God to contribute to the spiritual, social and cultural well-being of our city and region.

Limitless in its expression, this purpose can be fulfilled in the smallest details of our daily lives and in the broadest terms that large groups of people can collectively achieve.

Our priorities

Love & Community

Our top priority in 2024 is to be a catalyst for love and community in our city.

We are ambitious for everyone we know to experience the unconditional love of Christ Jesus through one another.

We can be the people in our families, neighbourhoods and workplaces who take the initiative to create community, getting to know each other and building our relationships.

We also run a variety of community and activity groups which are ideal for inviting people you know and deepening relationships.

Spiritual & Emotional Health

We’d love to encourage you to invest more of your time in your relationship with our heavenly Father, our Saviour and Friend Jesus, and our Helper Holy Spirit. There’s a variety of things we would recommend so take a look at our Spiritual & Emotional Health page for ideas!

Serving Our City

We have a range of activities that you could get involved with to bless those most in need within our city. To get involved with one of those, go to our “Community Services” page.

But we’re also aware that many of you are doing your own thing charity-wise within the city, including volunteering at the local city farm, mentoring young school children and supporting refugees who are new to the city. We love that! And we would bless and encourage you in what you are doing to bring renewal to the city!

Our vision
