Ruth 1-4 - Ruth and Naomi - 6 September 2020

Here are some ideas that you could do with your children at home, that link the children’s everyday experiences to the Bible. As you play or create, you can talk about what happened in the story of Ruth.

You could watch this video of the story:

TEACHING POINT

We are all part of God’s family.

PROGRAMME

Let’s Pretend

Set up a ‘home’ role play. You could include, crockery, utensils, play food, place to sleep, place to wash and items to wash with. Talk with your child about what you do as a family together. What makes it a family? What does a home look like?

Random Act of Kindness

sept 6 pic 2.png

Ruth had a BIG heart… she loved Naomi and instead of going back to her home and being comfortable, she decided to give up everything to show Naomi that she loved her. What random acts of kindness can we do this week to show someone that we love them? Surprise your parents by cooking for them or tidying up without them asking, buy someone a gift with your pocket money and leaving it on their doorstep with a note telling them that they are loved, send a picture in the post to make someone smile…

Family Tree

Who is in your family tree? How far back can you go? Did you know your grandparents real names?

Craft

Ruth collected grains from the field… What food can be made from grain? Wheat- bread, flour, pancakes, cakes. Oat- porridge, oat milk. What others can you find? Have a go at following a recipe…

MESSAGE AND PRAYER TIME

We are all part of God’s family.

Up to 3 years old (Fruitshoots)

Thank you God that we might have a mummy or a daddy or a brother or a sister who love us. Thank you that we are also a part of your family. Thank you that you love us and that you promise that you will always look after us.

From 3 years to Reception age (Acorns)

Thank you God that we are part of your family. Thank you that you love us and that you promise that you will always look after us. Thank you that we have friends at church who will also help us and look after us. Help us to look after our friends at church too.

School years 1-6 (Hive)

A question: Have you ever felt lonely?

You never have to!! God gave Ruth, Noami. They helped each other, worked together as a team and looked after each other. It’s better when we work together and look after one another. We don’t ever have to feel lonely as we have Jesus as our friend. He promises to be with us wherever we go. He has also given us a church family, who will care for us, pray for us and help us when we need it and we can do the same for others when they need it.

Pray!
