Who is Jesus? Easter - Easter Day - 12 April 2020

Here are some ideas that you could do with your children at home, that link the children’s everyday experiences to the Bible. As you play or create, you can talk about Jesus rising from the dead after 3 days and how he much he loves us today and wants to be our friend.

TEACHING POINT

Easter- Jesus is alive!

PROGRAMME

Let’s Pretend - Make an Easter garden

Find a bowl, fill with soil, put a plant pot in the middle, cover with moss or greenery, a few small stones at the front and a large stone across the front of the plant pot. Find two sticks and some twine/string and twist around the middle to create a cross. Make three crosses and display in your display. You could put your Easter Garden outside your house for all to see that Jesus is not here- He is alive!!

Book corner

Couple of beanbags in the corner – cosy up and read a story together, find the Easter story in your Bible together.

Messy play

Create an edible tomb scene- you will need a round biscuit eg a digestive biscuit or rich tea, cover with icing and put sprinkles over. Cut a 1/3 off a jammy dodger and then place the jammy dodger onto the icing with a mini egg or other small chocolate egg in front of the jammy middle of the jammy dodger. Enjoy!

Craft

Stained glass window cross - Find a plastic wallet, use half. Cut a cross shape out and fill with lots of square coloured bits of tissue paper. Place in a window and enjoy remembering how much Jesus loves you every time you look at it.

Easter card - Cover the paper/card with a cross tape in masking tape, then paint over the top in paint. Be creative, be colourful 😊 When dry, peel the tape off and you have a beautiful cross. Send it to a friend or relative who needs to know Jesus’ love this Easter.
