1 Samuel 17 - David and Goliath - 27 September 2020

Here are some ideas that you could do with your children at home, that link the children’s everyday experiences to the Bible. As you play or create, you can talk about what happened in the story of David and Goliath.

You could watch this video of the story:

Make your own Goliath to see how big he was… David was just a boy but our God is bigger!

Stone decorating

Create some ‘faith’ stones to remind you that no matter what comes your way, God has given us everything that we need. (Could also link to the fruit of the spirits).

Snack

Make a David and Goliath snack… raid your cupboards and see what you can use… breadsticks? Raisins? Skittles? Spaghetti to tie it together…? What are your ideas?

Armour of God

Make your own armor of God to remind you what God has given us to help us every day. He loves us and gives us everything we need. Just like He looked after David, He will also look after us!

MESSAGE AND PRAYER TIME

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes.

Up to 3 years old (Fruitshoots)

Thank you that you make us all heroes. Thank you that you will give us everything that we need. Thank you that you will always look after us, just like you looked after David.

From 3 years to Reception age (Acorns)

Thank you that we can all be heroes! Thank you that you look after us and give us everything we need. Help us to remember that we can be brave and strong with you by our side, just like David was. Help us to remember all the different gifts that you have given us to help us to be heroes with you.

School years 1-6 (Hive)

A question: Who is your favourite super hero? Maybe it is someone famous like Batman or The Hulk or maybe your hero is someone closer to home? Your teacher? A policeman? Your Mum or Dad? A friend? What makes a super hero super?

Thank you God that we can all be heroes with you by our side. Thank you that, just like David, you will give us everything that we need. Thank you that you look after us and the Bible reminds us that you always will. Help us to remember all the different gifts that you have given us to help us to be heroes with you.

Pray!
