'Jesus and grace' by Joanna Moss - 15 August 2021

Should people get what they deserve? In this talk, Joanna Moss looks at Jesus’s teaching on grace and ways to treat people better than they deserve. This includes giving things we need too, like forgiveness and restoration. If we receive these from God, can he enable us to give them freely and change our world?

QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION

  1. Read through this list of quotes on grace – which ones most resonant with you? Which ones most surprise you? Do any of these quotes change or expand your understanding of grace?

  2. In this talk, Joanna spoke about three examples of how God shows us grace day to day – because of God’s grace we have His favour, His forgiveness and the power to change. Where have you seen these in your own life? Is there a particular grace you’d like to receive more of and why?

  3. Showing grace to others can take so many forms – giving someone the benefit of doubt, forgiving quickly, offering help to someone even when they’ve caused the problem, not taking offence easily or holding a grudge, feel free to think of more! How could showing more grace to others affect your community and relationships? What one gracious step/act would you be happy to commit to trying to do this week?
