What can we do that is healthy for others to copy? In this Fathers’ Day talk, Mal Calladine continues our series of looking at long term relationships as family. What are the benefits of having a goal for our households? When things go wrong, can we rebuild stability with some CPR - consistency, predictability and reliability? And how much difference can it make to share the words, “I love you,” “I believe in you,” “I’m sorry - forgive me,” and “I’m praying for you”?

Application questions

  1. Can you articulate the main goal of your household (or who you do shared life with)? If its not ‘connection’; what headine describing words would you use as the goal for your context?

  2. Where are you reminded in your relationships that you most need to be true to your word? (to help relational connection)

  3. Who comes to mind that most needs your CPR – of being Consistent, Predictable & Reliable that you know will help your connection?

  4. Who in your life or household are you most reminded of that needs to hear “I love you”; “I believe in you”; “I’m sorry – forgive me”; & “I’m praying for you”? How could they best hear that from you?

  5. As mentioned in the talk, you could write a Father’s Day card (or text!) to your Heavenly Father; (or someone else in your life who you feel has particularly impacted you). What is it you want to thank them for; what did they do, or characteristic did they show that has impacted you?

  6. Anywhere else the Holy Spirit was getting your attention during the talk?
