Day 13 – Weird ways to cross the water

John 6:16-24

When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea. They got into the boat and were going over the sea to Capernaum. It was dark now, and Jesus had not come to them. The sea was getting rough because a strong wind was blowing. When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat, and they were afraid.

But he said to them, “It is me, I’m here, I am. Don’t be afraid.” So they willingly took him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were going.

The next day, the crowd that stood on the other side of the sea realised that there had only been one boat there, and that Jesus hadn’t entered the boat with his disciples, but his disciples had gone away alone. But then, other boats from Tiberias came near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks. When the crowd saw that Jesus and his disciples were not there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.

For reflection

Imagine you’re at sea right now – that might be how you are feeling about something difficult. What would it be like for Jesus to get into your boat?
